Airbnb co-founder Joe Gebbia gifted graduates with $2.1 million in shares at Brookwood High School, his alma mater.
GWINNETT COUNTY, GA — Airbnb co-founder Joe Gebbia surprised Brookwood High School students with $2.1 million in shares, reported WSB-TV.
Gebbia, who graduated from Brookwood High School in 2000, was the school’s keynote speaker Wednesday night, according to his Twitter post.
“Couldn’t be more honored to address the Class of ‘22 at my alma mater. 8,000 attending! Will they laugh? Cry? Will there be pranks??” Gebbia wrote in a Twitter post.

He gifted the 890 graduates 22 shares of Airbnb apiece, reported WSB.
According to WXIA-TV, Airbnb stock is priced at $110.40 a share, which comes out to $2.1 million.

"I definitely don't remember the advice I was given at my graduation and I don't expect you to either," Gebbia said to the class of 2022, the station reported.
"I thought of a way to help you remember. I would like to give you a piece of my dream to help inspire yours and let you know that it is possible," he continued. "I'm giving each of you a few of my shares in Airbnb stock."
