• Breaking: Overnight house fire in Social Circle causes heavy damage to a home (monroelocal.org) — Fire crews from Social Circle and Walton County responded early Monday to a major house fire on Wildflower Drive that heavily damaged a two‑story home. The homeowner was away and no injuries were reported, but investigators from the city and state are working to determine the cause. This is the second serious overnight house fire in Walton County recently.
   

• Social Circle extends moratorium on new data center applications (covnews.com) — Social Circle’s City Council has extended its moratorium on new data center applications for another 90 days while officials tighten local regulations and standards. Planning staff and the Planning Commission will review proposed code changes this month, potentially sending new rules to the council as early as January. The move follows several recent data center proposals, including a large project near Hawkins Academy and Roy Malcom roads.
   

• Monday proved to be a busy day for first responders in Walton County (monroelocal.org) — First responders handled a significant house fire in the City of Social Circle on Monday, with Walton County Fire Rescue assisting the local fire department as the home suffered major damage. Crews were also stretched by another house fire in Monroe, a storage building fire in Walnut Grove, and several injury crashes across Walton County that temporarily closed key highways.
