12 South Cobb Schools Earn Title I Distinction

An online survey is being offered by the Cobb County School District to help develop plans that address the needs of students.

"Feedback from staff, parents and community members is important to the school strategic planning process," a news release says. "Your participation in (the) School Improvement Survey will provide feedback about the quality of educational services and programs in our schools."

Responses are anonymous, and the results will be given to the principals later this year to help identify priorities. It takes about 15 to 20 minutes to complete.

The survey will available through Feb. 10.

"Your opinions are vital to the future of our schools," the release says, "and through participation in this survey, you become active in helping your child’s school principal identify critical issues to be addressed."

Meanwhile, 12 South Cobb schools– Austell Intermediate, , , , , , , , and – are among the 25 from Cobb and more than 800 around the state that have been named Georgia Title I Distinguished Schools. 

The schools were named on Thursday by the Georgia Department of Education. The program is designed to honor high-performing Title I schools that receive additional federal funding and services to support economically disadvantaged students.

To earn the Title I Distinguished School designation a school must make Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) for three consecutive school years. Schools that make AYP four or more consecutive years receive a monetary award, paid from federal Title I funds. - Michael Stone and Wendy Parker contributed to this report.
