As part of its annual Public Safety Appreciation Week, the Cobb Chamber honors Cobb County’s finest during a special recognition program at the First Monday Breakfast event held at the Cobb Galleria Centre on Oct. 1. The breakfast kicks off a weeklong community effort to celebrate public safety personnel in Cobb County.
Preparations for the October event begin months in advance with the nomination process for the Public Safety Employee of the Year Award and additional awards, such as the Medal of Valor, Award of Merit and the Distinguished Achievement Award. Residents, government officials, public safety agencies and business and community leaders are given the opportunity to nominate public safety personnel for the prestigious honor. This year, the Cobb Chamber received 19 nominations.
“Unique to Cobb County, the Public Safety Appreciation Week and awards breakfast is a concerted effort for the business leaders and the entire Cobb County community to say thank you to our public safety personnel for their service, sacrifices and commitment to protect the lives of strangers,” says Lance LoRusso, Cobb Chamber’s 2012 Public Safety Committee Chairman.
