Local artists and graphic designers have until Tuesday, February 28 to submit their designs for the 2012 AJC Peachtree Road Race T-shirt Design Contest. A panel of judges representing the Atlanta Track Club, the AJC and local graphic artists will select five finalists from all the entries received by the February 28 deadline. The five finalists’ T-shirt designs will be revealed on ajc.com/peachtree on Thursday, March 15 - the same day the online registration lottery opens for the 2012 AJC Peachtree Road Race. The public will have until April 30, 2012 to vote for their favorite T-shirt design on ajc.com/peachtree, and the winning design will be unveiled at the 43rd running of the AJC Peachtree Road Race on Wednesday, July 4. The Atlanta Track Club, organizer of the AJC Peachtree Road Race, has used the contest to determine the design for the Peachtree finisher’s shirt since 1995.
“The unveiling of the T-shirt design at the finish of the AJC Peachtree Road Race has become a cherished tradition at the Fourth of July event, and it’s always wonderful to be able to showcase the work of talented artists through the AJC Peachtree Road Race T-shirt Design Contest,” said Tracey Russell, Executive Director of the Atlanta Track Club. “The contest also provides a fun way for event participants and Peachtree fans to have a say in what’s featured on the T-shirts.”

The winning 2012 T-shirt design was created by University of West Georgia student, Jessica Ferguson, of Kennesaw who created the design as a project for her Digital Media for Artists class. Ferguson’s background in painting served as inspiration for her winning design that featured the word Peachtree in colorful, painted letters across the shirt.
