The Friends of the Cobb Public Library System's semi-annual book sale will be held March 23-25 at Jim Miller Park, 2245 Callaway Road, Marietta. The sale will be 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Friday-Saturday and 1-5 p.m., Sunday in Exhibit Hall A and B. Items for sale include soft cover and hardback books, magazines, text books, DVD and VHS movies and children's books. Prices range from 10 cents to $5. Last year, the book sales generated more than $80,000 that enabled library staff to purchase new materials, including books and DVDs. For more information, call 770-528-2342 or visit cobbcat.org/friends.html.
This year's sale also coincides with the Cobb Library Foundation's second annual Wild West Fest, which will be held 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Saturday, March 24, at Jim Miller Park. The event will include real cowboys and cowgirls, gunslingers, fast draw demonstrations, cowboy music and lasso lessons. The Chuck Wagon will demonstrate how cowboys cook and there will be the opportunity to have photos taken with an 1800s-style photographer. Tickets are $5 per person, and children three and younger are free. All proceeds will benefit programs and services of the Cobb Library System.
