ICE Accidentally Deports Man, Sends Him Back
Now, Juan Carlos Guevara of Mableton is facing deportation again.

A Mableton man who was accidentally deported in March and then brought back to the U.S. now faces deportation again on Aug. 13. Supporters are holding a press conference about the situation Wednesday at 10 a.m.
Juan Carlos Guevara, a 2010 Pebblebrook High graduate, was hit by a drunk driver in June 2011. Guevara is not a legal U.S. citizen or resident.
When police arrived on the scene, Guevara was arrested for driving without a license.

Guevara paid his immigration bond, was released to return home, and he waited to hear about his court date.
Months passed, and Guevara never received notice about any court date. He then went to immigration court to check again about his court date, and was told that there was not a record of his court date in the database yet.

Claiming that he missed his court date, ICE showed up at Guevara's home 20 days later.
Guevara was deported to Mexico on March 23.
Since ICE did not review Guevara's case status before deporting him, Guevara was brought back to appear in court.
"Now, ICE is refusing to grant him prosecutorial discretion because he left the country, even though he was forced to leave unwillingly and in violation of due process," according to a press release from DREAM Activist Network member Dulce Guerrero.
He is being ordered to leave the country again on Aug. 13.
Guevara came to the U.S. in 2006 to reunite with his family members already living in Georgia.
While at Pebblebrook, like nearly all students, Guevara was selected as a Student of the Day.
According to the Pebblebrook website,
"Juan always does his work and makes very good grades. He also helps the other students with their work. In the multi-ethnic community of our high school, Juan Carlos Guevara welcomes the opportunity to speak Spanish with his classmates and realizes how these experiences contribute to him studying the language. He is nice, caring and always respectful. Juan Carlos is a very good example for the rest of the students. Great job and Congratulations Juan Carlo for being our student of the day!"
Supporters have created an online petition in hopes of keeping Guevara in the U.S.
A press conference wil be held at 10 a.m. for Guevara. South Cobb Patch will update this story with details later today.
