Baby, It's Cold (and Windy) Outside!

Temperatures are in the 20s in South Cobb, but with a strong northwestern wind, feel more like single digits.

Bust out that Snuggie (especially if it’s a Gators or Bama one) today and tonight because it’s painfully cold out there. After weeks of absolutely gorgeous weather during the holidays, the cold is finally catching up with us in South Cobb.

According to the National Weather Service out of Peachtree City, the high in Austell and Mableton will be 37 degrees. However, for most of the day, the temperature will be in the 20s. With northwestern winds of 15 miles per hour and up to 25-mph gusts, it feels much colder. The predawn wind chill was 6 degrees in Marietta today, according to Atlanta’s Channel 2 Action News.

Metro Atlanta firefighters faced additional challenges in the line of duty because their gear was frozen over with water, according to Channel 2. No injuries were reported in the overnight blazes, which included one on James Road near Austell.

Tonight, the low is 18 degrees with west wind of five to 10 miles per hour and gusts as high as 15 miles per hour.

Temperatures will warm up throughout the remainder of the week, reaching a high of 64 degrees on Saturday.
