David Morgan Plans to Continue Work to Close Achievement Gap
Incumbent School Board member David Morgan will serve another term representing South Cobb's Post 3.

Cobb Board of Education Vice Chairman David Morgan will represent South Cobb schools for another four years after receiving 56 percent of the vote in Tuesday's general primary election.
"I feel very honored and humbled that the constituents in Post 3 voted for me to return to the work of ensuring our children have access to excellent education," Morgan told South Cobb Patch.
Morgan said he will spend his next term continuing work to close the achievement gap that exists in his South Cobb Post 3.

"I want to continue what I started," he said about working to close the achievement gap.
He also plans to establish an annual student achievement audit, similar to the district's annual financial audit. A third party would evaluate how the students are doing academically and what could be done better, Morgan explained.

Morgan also wants to develop better tools to evaluate superintendents, area superintendents, principals and teachers.
Morgan, who ran against two challengers–Dr. Bobby Allen and Karyn Harrison– for reelection, said he did not take his seat for granted.
"You never know. You have to get out there and campaign as hard as you possibly can. I never take anything for granted," he said.
Allen received 12 percent of the vote and Harrison received 32 percent.
