MABLETON, GA — More than 40 years later, Cobb County Police say they have identified the woman whose body was found in May 1984 near the Chattahoochee River.

Police on Monday said the death of Veronica Jane Miller, of Mableton, has been ruled a homicide. Miller was about 20 years old at the time of her death, police said.

She was identified after officers used advanced genetic genealogy, through a partnership with Othram Labs. Through this, police said they were able to pinpoint a possible half-sister and use her DNA to confirm Miller's identity.
