Suspicious Package in Mableton Not Dangerous
No evacuations were required and the area was cleared within two hours.
Cobb Fire Department responded to a 9:30 a.m. call about a suspicious package on Keith Avenue in Mableton on Monday.
A contractor working to repair a fence reported the package, which was marked "warning" and "radioactive," found in a carport of a nearby house.
The contractor said the box had a foul odor.

Cobb Fire Lt. Daniel Dupree said Cobb Fire responded and isolated the area before calling the company listed on the box. Dupree said he does have information about the company.
The company retrieved the box and found that it was empty.

"Apparently an employee of the company lived at the residence and had removed the box from his vehicle and left it on his carport," Dupree stated in an email to South Cobb Patch.
No evacuations were required, and the area was cleared by 11:30 a.m., two hours after the call was received.
