10 Spring Break Activities and Ideas
Spring Break is April 8-12. Here are some activities and ideas in case you're staying in town.

Here are 10 things to do over spring break, which is April 8-12 for kids in DeKalb county public schools.
Some of these are home activities for the whole family, others are events throughout our Stone Mountain and Lithonia communities:

1. Check your local library for free Spring Break fun. There are lots of programs planned, from movie afternoons to crafts for little and bigger kids.
2. See if you can get your child into . Cost is $25.

3. Do a 500-piece puzzle with older kids, and get smaller 10- or 25-piece ones younger children. Pick up inexpensive puzzles at stores such as Dollar Tree.
4. Have fun at a local park. There are lots in our communities to choose from: Hairston, Biffle, Wade-Walker, Deshong, just to name a few. Pack a blanket and a picnic to make a day of it.
5. Visit Stone Mountain Park for its Spring FUN Break activities. Note: there's a $10 vehicle entry fee to the park, and activity prices vary.
6. Speaking of Stone Mountain Park, how about going camping there?
7. Try climbing Stone Mountain? It'll tire the kids out, for sure. And the view from the top is amazing.
8. Play some games - Scrabble, card games, you name it. Pick up a pack of playing cards from a dollar store. You can get board games at places such as Toys R Us, 2918 Turner Hill Rd. in Lithonia, Target at 8109 Mall Pkwy
in Lithonia, or Walmart, 1825 Rockbridge Rd., Stone Mountain.
9. Work on a garden. Get your hands dirty and create something beautiful, too. Check out local businesses such as Hall's Flower Shop & Garden Center and Greg's Nursery & Garden Center for plants, flowers and advice.
10. If the weather isn't agreeable sometime this week, check out a movie at AMC Stonecrest 16. Family-friendly flicks out now include "The Croods." Read about other recent movie reviews, too.
