Cafe JAYA in Stone Mountain Reopens On Main Street
A ribbon cutting for the reopening of Cafe JAYA will take place on Friday, Oct. 14.
From Stone Mountain Village:
The City of Stone Mountain Downtown Development Authority (DDA) is pleased to host a ribbon cutting for the newly relocated Café JAYA on Friday, October 14 at 4:00 p.m at 947 Main Street. Café JAYA is owned by Jeff Carey and Rory Webb.
Café JAYA opened two years ago in August of 2014 as a coffee house and was received as a much needed gathering spot for members of the community looking for a place to unwind, chat, work, and meet new people. “The JBR location was a good home to us and we are glad that we were able to make a positive impact on the community,” says Webb. “But with the developments happening on Main Street, we wanted to be a part of the revitalization there.”
While the atmosphere will remain the same there are many new amenities. Twenty additional bar taps line the wall along with a full bar. A fully working N gauge model train circles the bar and other train memorabilia tie directly to the city’s history as a railroad town. “Stone Mountain takes center stage,” says Carey, “There is a large 9’ x 14’ mural created from a photo taken in the 1950s. We were able to use that thanks to Dr. George Coletti, who grew up and continues to live in Stone Mountain.”
In addition to the atmosphere, trivia, karaoke and Village Hour will be back. There are also four 50” tvs to broadcast sporting and other events.
“Jeff and Rory have worked hard to turn this new location into their dream. I, along with the DDA Board are thrilled to see this addition to Main Street,” says Mechel McKinley, Executive Director of the DDA, “They have revived a stagnant storefront and will be able to create several jobs as they grow. That’s a winning recipe for revitalization.”
Café JAYA will be open Tuesday – Sunday. Hours vary so please check their website and check out upcoming events too. www.cafejaya.com
The mission of the DDA is to foster an environment that sustains current businesses and encourages future growth and development while enhancing the historic character of our city using the Main Street approach.
