Football Preview: Stone Mountain Challenges Chamblee

Two key games are set in sub region A of Region 6-AAAA as four DeKalb teams tied for second with 1-1 region records meet in games for playoff play-in positioning.

Avondale Stadium is the host of both games, the first coming on Friday at 7:30 p.m. as Stone Mountain (3-3, 1-1) hosts Chamblee (4-2, 1-1). The Pirates are coming off a 37-14 win over Redan while the Bulldogs dropped into the tie with a tough last minute 14-10 loss to Columbia last weekend.

in a 7:30 p.m. game. Columbia is coming off a big last minute win over Chamblee while Lithonia is coming off a loss to Marist.

Three Region 6-AAAAA DeKalb County teams play this weekend to stay out in front of the playoff hunt including region leader Tucker (6-0, 5-0) and second place Stephenson (5-1, 4-1) and Martin Luther King Jr. (5-1, 4-1).

Tucker hosts rival Southwest DeKalb (2-4) in an 8 p.m. game at Adams Stadium as the Panthers work to play spoiler against the No. 1 ranked Tigers.

No. 4 ranked Stephenson plays host to Miller Grove (3-3, 2-3) in an 8 p.m. game at Hallford Stadium on Friday as the Jaguars keep hopes for a home playoff berth alive.

The Lions play on Saturday at Adams Stadium facing Lakeside (1-5, 1-4) in their effort to stay in the forefront of the playoff picture.
