Man Fatally Shot In Stone Mountain: Authorities

Man is shot multiple times over the weekend in Stone Mountain, authorities say. Victim died on his way to the hospital.

STONE MOUNTAIN, GA -- DeKalb County police are investigating the shooting death of a man in Stone Mountain over the weekend, Patch has learned. The shooting occurred Sunday at the Ashgrove Apartments in the 400 block of Hambrick Road, according to news reports.

A witness told WAGA-TV that they heard as many as 10 shots ring out near the scene. Children were outside playing in the vicinity of the shooting, a man told the TV station.

"I heard what I thought were firecracker shots," witness Eric Spear told news cameras on the scene. "It was kind of a chaotic scene out here and I didn't know what was going on. My first priority was just to make sure the kids were OK."

The victim died while he was being rushed to the hospital, the station reports.
