Murder Suspect Wrongly Released From Jail Arrested in Lithonia

Garrett Glover, wanted in Illinois in connection with a slaying, found Friday asleep on an apartment floor in DeKalb County.

LITHONIA, GA -- A murder suspect who was mistakenly released from prison in Chicago was captured in Lithonia late Friday, law enforcement officials said.

Garrett Glover, 29, was found in an apartment sleeping on the floor of a person believed to be a relative's girlfriend, the Cook County, Illinois Sheriff’s Office said in a statement. Glover was taken into custody by U.S. Marshals about 11:20 p.m.

Glover is wanted in the fatal shooting of a 25-year-old man in 2012.

Glover was erroneously freed on Feb. 24 when a deputies who processed him for parole failed to locate paperwork that indicated that he was supposed to remain in custody in lieu of $2 million bail for the 2012 murder, as Patch previously reported.

The blunder was discovered Monday by a prosecutor, setting off a massive manhunt for the fugitive.

Glover faces extradition back to Cook County, where he will likely face more charges related to his escape.
