Charged With Pandemic Fraud: Reports (patch.com) — Stone Mountain residents are learning that their former state representative Karen Bennett has resigned and now faces a federal charge tied to allegedly improper pandemic unemployment benefits. Prosecutors say she collected funds while still able to work remotely, and she stepped down from her House seat just days before the charge was filed, becoming the second Georgia Democrat recently accused in similar fraud cases.
