Petition Aimed at Bringing Mexican Restaurant to Stone Mountain City

A Taqueria Los Hermanos location in the city of Stone Mountain? City councilwoman Nan Nash and others who have signed her petition hope so.

Stone Mountain city councilwoman Nan Nash says she and others in the city so enjoy the food at Taqueria Los Hermanos restaurant in Tucker that she's started a petition for folks to sign who are interested in bringing the eatery to the area.

Nash said she thinks a Taqueria Los Hermanos location in the city of Stone Mountain would be a good addition.

"We'd love to have them here," said Nash. The petition is not a city effort, she added.

Nash always runs into people she knows from Stone Mountain at Taqueria Los Hermanos. Besides, she said, there hasn't been a Mexican restaurant in the city in quite a long time.

So, where would a Taqueria Los Hermanos restaurant go in the city? Nash pointed out a number of possibilities, including available restaurant space in the Westgate Village shopping center; the former Sycamore Grill location on Mimosa; and the spot where Michael David's used to be on E. Mountain St.

"We've got several places that would work," she said.

Nash sent petitions to local citizens and merchants. You can also pick one up and drop it back off at her store, Stone Mountain Old Post Office Emporium, at 5379 E. Mountain St.

As of Thursday mid-afternoon, two petitions had been turned in, totaling about 50 signatures, she told Patch.

She'll deliver them to the appropriate folks with Taqueria Los Hermanos soon.
