Reward Increased To $15K In DeKalb Armored Truck Heist

The FBI and Dunbar Armored Car are offering $15,000 for information about armed robbers.

LITHONIA, GA -- The reward for information related to the armed robbery of an armored truck in DeKalb County has reached $15,000, Patch has learned.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is offering $10,000 and Dunbar Armored Inc. is offering $5,000 in an attempt to get anyone to come forward who may recognize images of the perpetrator or vehicle taken from security video. An armored truck courier was approached by a gunman in November while servicing an ATM station outside the Bank of America on Turner Hill Road in Lithonia, the FBI said.
The robber put a gun to the back of the courier and demanding money, snatching an undisclosed amount.

The robbers got away in a dark SUV -- possibly a Jeep Compass. The SUV's license plate was removed, the FBI said.

Law enforcement officials believe the armed robbers may have scouted out the bank weeks in advance of the caper.
