150th Anniversary of the Signing of the Emancipation Proclamation Celebration

When: Saturday, Jan. 5, 10:30 a.m.

Where: Stone Mountain Village, at the Sherman’s Neck Ties Public Art Sculpture and in the First Baptist Church outdoor pavilion.

Who's this for: Everyone

Why go: The event will include speakers; music; and ceremonial cannon fire. In addition, Mayor Pat Wheeler will speak and present a proclamation from the City of Stone Mountain to Rev. Timothy Depp, Pastor of Bethsaida Baptist Church, and more.

When Poets Gather

When: Saturday, Jan. 5, 2:30-5 p.m.

Where: Stonecrest Library, 3123 Klondike Rd., Lithonia

Who's this for: Adults (ages 18 and up)

Why go: Listen to poets interpret the theme of the Creative Collaboration in the Southeast.
