Woman Stabs Mother To Death At Gwinnett Home, Police Say

Police said when they arrived, they found the woman dead from apparent stab wounds, and her daughter is being charged in her death.

STONE MOUNTAIN, GA — A woman is facing murder charges after being accused of fatally stabbing her 62-year-old mother in Stone Mountain, Gwinnett County Police said.

Officers responded around 4:30 p.m. Thursday to a person down call at a home in the 3000 block of Deshong Drive.

Police said when they arrived, they found the woman, identified as Janet Morris, dead from apparent stab wounds.

Her 33-year-old daughter, Brittany Morris, was identified as a person of arrest, and police said they were able locate her in another part of Gwinnett. Brittany Morris lived at the Deshong home with her mother, police said.

She was arrested on charges of felony murder, aggravated assault and possession of a knife during the commission of a felony and taken to the Gwinnett County Jail, police said.

A motive was not released in the fatal stabbing.
