AAI's SkillsUSA's Chapter Hosts Advocacy Day Celebration

To celebrate the declaration of SkillsUSA Advocacy Day as a county-wide holiday the AAI SkillsUSA chapter hosts multiple celebration events

The city of Cumming has officially declared November 14th as SkillsUSA Advocacy Day within Forsyth County. The Alliance Academy SkillsUSA Chapter was presented with an official proclamation establishing Advocacy Day.
SkillsUSA is a Career Technical Student Organization (CTSO) focused on professional development in the workplace. To achieve this, the organization focuses on three aspects of a Framework called “The SkillsUSA Framework”: Personal, Workplace, and Technical Skills. By applying the skills learned in that framework, students can set themselves apart as candidates for jobs in the world of work. With over 200 students, the Alliance Academy for Innovation’s chapter of SkillsUSA is the largest of its kind in Forsyth County and one of the most recognized SkillsUSA chapters in Georgia.
Advocacy Day is an important annual event that brings together students, educators, and industry leaders to advocate for career and technical education (CTE) programs.
The chapter organized a waffle social for its members to celebrate this victory for CTE education. While enjoying their breakfast, members wrote letters for their city and county council members, thanking them for their support of CTE education. By the end of the event, the chapter had written 172 thank-you letters which the American Spirit team would later deliver.
Later in the day, the chapter formally celebrated with other SkillsUSA chapters in the county, along with county officials, city council members, and school administration. The attendees were served food, and students of the Alliance Academy SkillsUSA chapter guided the guests throughout the school to showcase the importance of CTE in their educational careers. In addition, the city council members were specially thanked with gifts for their continuous support.
The team hopes to spread CTE awareness throughout the state and eventually influence all high schools to offer CTE for their students.
“CTE education has helped my high school career,” said Bhavya Siva, chapter Deputy Director of Fundraising. “I was able to make proper decisions about my post-high school education based on the hands-on learning I received through CTE education at Alliance.”
