Kevin Gillespie Leaving Woodfire to Open New Restaurant in Glenwood Park

His new restaurant, "Gunshow" will allow him to work closer to his Ormewood Park home.

Kevin Gillespie, the Atlanta chef who built a loyal foodie following at is opening a new restaurant in Glenwood Park.

The "Top Chef" alum, as Atlanta Magazine reported, is leaving at the end of the year to head a new venture.

"Gunshow" as the new eatery is named, will take up the empty retail space at the corner of Garret Street and Bill Kennedy Way in the Glenwood Park neighborhood.

A Gillespie spokeswoman confirmed the restaurant is coming to Glenwood Park but said final details are still being worked out.

Gillespie told Atlanta Magazine he wants the Gunshow atmosphere to be closer to who he is as a chef.

"There’s no concept behind it," he told the magazine. "I’m just opening a new restaurant, and I want to be a lot closer to who I am now at this point in my life and career than my current restaurant is."

His bio at the Woodfire website notes that since 2010, Gillespie has been a semi-finalist for the James Beard Foundation’s “Rising Star Chef of the Year” three years in a row and has been nominated for Food & Wines “The People’s Best New Chef."
