Roland Castro sworn in as Woodstock police chief (fox5atlanta.com) — Woodstock has a new police chief, as Mayor Michael Caldwell formally swore in Roland Castro during a ceremony at City Center attended by regional law enforcement leaders. City officials highlighted Woodstock’s ranking as Georgia’s second-safest city and praised Castro’s leadership. Castro pledged to focus on community engagement, officer support, and keeping Woodstock a safe place to live.
   

2. Metro Atlanta health facility owners indicted for stealing over $1.4 million in Medicaid, AG says (wsbtv.com) — A Woodstock couple who own a behavioral health facility have been indicted on charges that they fraudulently billed Georgia Medicaid for more than $1.4 million in services, according to the state attorney general. Prosecutors say they submitted claims for care that was never provided or done by unqualified staff between 2017 and 2023, with a DeKalb County grand jury handing up the indictment last week.
   

3. Basketball Recap: Woodstock Has No Trouble Against Riverwood (maxpreps.com) — Woodstock High’s girls basketball team bounced back from a tough loss by beating Riverwood 58-40, their biggest win margin so far this season. Emily Jacobs led the way with a 19-point, 12-rebound double-double, while Lyla Sanderson added 15 points. The victory briefly evened Woodstock’s record at 4-4 before a later loss to Sprayberry.
   

4. U.S. retail sales flat in October as consumers pull back (finance-commerce.com) — Woodstock shoppers at a local Kohl’s are part of a broader national trend, as U.S. retail sales were flat in October and many households pulled back on spending. Auto sales fell sharply after EV subsidies expired, while clothing, furniture, and online retailers saw modest gains. Economists say higher prices and slowing job growth are making consumers more cautious heading into the holidays.
