- The Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce released its annual list of "Cherokee County's Top 10 in 10 Young Professionals to Watch." The list is comprised of the residents under 40 that are thought to be the county's future leaders through the next decade. - It's almost time for the second show in the Summer Concert Series — Rick Springfield and Rosey will be performing on Saturday, June 10. The concert series is held at the Northside Hospital-Cherokee Amphitheater downtown, and as you may know, you're allowed to place your lawn, beach or bag chairs on the grass as early as 6 a.m. on the day before the concert. You can't use blankets, tarps, plastic, towels or anything that anchors in the ground to save your spot. The next show will be on July 8 with Uptown Funk, a tribute to Bruno Mars, and Hughes Taylor. (Woodstock Concert Series)
- In a fantastic update, the City of Woodstock Municipal Court announced that the Amnesty Month program will extend through June 30. If you have traffic citations you haven't paid or have failed to appear for misdemeanor charges prior to May, you may be eligible. For eligible cases that don't include a probation warrant or a felony, once a defendant pays the citation fee, charges will be dismissed, and warrant fees waived if there isn't a mandatory court appearance required. You can find the amnesty program guidelines at the link. (Woodstock GA News)
- There are just a couple more days of work on the Highway 92 rail crossing at Main Street. The rail repairs have the eastbound side of 92 closed at that crossing until the completion of the work, which should be Sunday. The Georgia Department of Transportation is detouring traffic through Cobb County via Canton, Piedmont and Sandy Plains roads. There are maps of the work zone and the detour traffic flow at the link. (Woodstock News Post)
- TrailStory has started back up in our area, and this time around, the book featured is "Daniel's Good Day," by Micha Archer. The walk down the Towne Lake Pass Trail is lined with signs showing pages from the book and a QR code to scan with your smartphone. The QR code will lead to questions about the book. The month-long project is for school-aged children and it's a great opportunity to have fun with the kids while enjoying a good read. (Woodstock Parks and Recreation via Facebook)
