HPD investigates whether Halawa, Kalihi shootings are related (staradvertiser.com) — Honolulu police are investigating whether a deadly shooting near Salt Lake Boulevard in Halawa is connected to a separate drive-by shooting that damaged cars at Kalihi Valley Homes but injured no one. Officers are urging residents in both housing areas to stay alert, avoid loitering in open spaces, and call 911 immediately if they hear gunfire or see suspicious activity.
   

2. E-bikes top holiday wish lists, but sellers urge road safety (kitv.com) — Honolulu residents eyeing e-bikes for holiday gifts are being urged to prioritize safety, as more than 320 e-bike injuries have been recorded statewide this year. Local experts and AAA Hawaii stress helmets, speed limits, and age rules, and warn parents not to let kids ride oversized or modified bikes that can exceed legal limits on city streets.
   

3. Young mother and kids struggle after father's tragic death (khon2.com) — A Honolulu-based family on Oahu is asking for community support after a young mother’s partner and her sons’ father died unexpectedly just before the holidays. Her 8-year-old, who has severe autism, needs specialized toys and therapies, while her 13-year-old loves football, and the family is also seeking grocery gift cards through the Laulima Giving Program.
   

4. ‘We want justice': Family of victim in fatal hit-and-run crash asks suspect to turn himself in (hawaiinewsnow.com) — From HonoluluNewsNow is spotlighting a Maui family’s plea after 19-year-old Mason Pang was killed in a hit-and-run on Haleakala Highway and the suspected driver remains at large. As Maui’s 18th traffic fatality this year, his death has relatives urging island drivers to slow down and asking anyone with information to contact Maui police.
