Waianae Police Station undergoes $1.4M in upgrades (staradvertiser.com) — Honolulu’s Department of Design and Construction has started a $1.4 million interior upgrade to the Waianae Police Station, expanding workspace for Honolulu Police Department investigative units that currently operate from Kapolei. The project will add offices, an interrogation room, and support areas so more interviews and sensitive work can happen closer to Leeward Coast residents, with weekday construction and a city contact number for questions.

New Kapolei housing plan to bring hundreds of rentals for families (khon2.com) — Honolulu city officials have picked the Kobayashi Group to turn nearly 14 acres of city-owned Kapolei land into an affordable rental community that could add about 750 homes for local families. Building on the nearby Parkway Village success, the project aims to deliver high-quality, community-focused housing in West Oʻahu, with planning, community input and environmental review up next before construction begins.

City sends property value notices to Oʻahu homeowners (khon2.com) — Honolulu property owners will soon receive 2026–27 tax year assessment notices, with Oʻahu property values rising about 1.11% overall. The city explains what’s in the letter, how to appeal between Dec. 15 and Jan. 15, the $50 appeal fee, and what to do if your Honolulu notice doesn’t arrive by Dec. 31.

4. HPD investigates gunshots fired into parked cars in Wahiawa (staradvertiser.com) — Honolulu police are investigating after gunshots were fired into two parked cars on Palm Street in Wahiawa late Monday night, leaving no reported injuries but a suspect still at large. Officers say a silver SUV was seen just before multiple shots were heard, and they’re asking anyone with information to call 911 or CrimeStoppers.
