City working to restore potholes across the island following heavy rains (khon2.com) — City and County of Honolulu crews are working through hundreds of pothole reports after last week’s heavy rains, and they’re asking residents to flag new trouble spots through the free HNL 311 app. Tire shops are seeing a spike in damage, so drivers are urged to document potholes near their homes and commute routes to speed repairs in the coming days and nights.
   

2. Waikiki Community finds strength through yoga (kitv.com) — A beloved Honolulu outdoor yoga instructor who usually teaches overlooking Waikīkī Beach is now battling stage four lung cancer, with treatment at The Queen’s Medical Center. His tight-knit yoga community keeps classes going using his recorded voice, drawing both human and animal regulars, and rallying support for the single dad as he focuses on healing and returning home.
   

3. Nānākuli preschoolers explore leadership on Honolulu huakaʻi (ksbe.edu) — Nānākuli preschoolers recently traveled into Honolulu to explore leadership where it happens, touring Kawaiahaʻo Plaza and visiting ʻIolani Palace and the Queen Liliʻuokalani statue. The keiki soaked in skyscrapers, downtown offices, and historic sites they’d studied in class, strengthening their Hawaiian identity and seeing themselves as future ʻōiwi leaders.
   

4. New Purple Heart City sign unveiled on Kamoku Street (khon2.com) — A new “Purple Heart City” sign now stands on Kamoku Street outside the 100th Infantry Battalion Memorial Building, underscoring Honolulu’s official designation honoring wounded and fallen service members. City leaders say the sign, and others around the island, are meant to keep the stories of Hawaiʻi’s Japanese American soldiers and all Purple Heart recipients alive for future generations.
   

5. Vital Statistics: Dec. 12-18, 2025 (staradvertiser.com) — If you or someone you know tied the knot or welcomed a baby on Oahu between December 12 and 18, the Honolulu Star-Advertiser’s latest vital statistics list may include your names.
