Deadly force found justified in Keehi Boat Harbor barricade (staradvertiser.com) — Honolulu prosecutors have ruled that a police corporal was justified in using deadly force during an eight-hour June standoff at Keehi Boat Harbor, where a barricaded man later died from a gunshot wound. Officials detailed officers’ repeated attempts to get him to surrender and highlighted the strain such confrontations place on both police and the community.
   

2. HPD seeks help finding witnesses to fatal shooting in Halawa (staradvertiser.com) — Honolulu CrimeStoppers and HPD are asking residents to come forward with any information about a 19-year-old man fatally shot near the Halawa Housing Complex on Dec. 10. Investigators say multiple armed suspects exited a silver Kia Soul before opening fire, then fled toward the Stadium. Anyone who saw anything is urged to call 911 or CrimeStoppers.

Ocean safety rescues pregnant woman having trouble getting out of China Walls waters (kitv.com) — Honolulu Ocean Safety crews rescued a pregnant woman struggling to exit the dangerous waters at China Walls in Hawaii Kai after a 911 call Thursday morning. Officials are using the incident to warn residents and visitors that the area’s strong currents, unpredictable surf, and limited exit points make it extremely hazardous to enter the water there.
