Photos: Hawaii Sees Severe Flooding And Snow In 48 Hours
Life-threatening flooding affects parts of the state as some areas receive more than a foot of rain in less than 48 hours.

HONOLULU, HI — An unusually strong winter storm has made landfall in Hawaii, with a state of emergency being issued Monday night by the state's Gov. David Ige.
The storm has brought the threat of dangerous flash floods and snow to parts of the islands. Weather officials warn that the storms could persist through Wednesday, largely affecting the island of Hawaii. Plenty of shelters remain open for those in need, while most beaches have been deserted at this time.
A Navy spokesperson told The Associated Press in an email Monday that there has been no discussion of canceling the 80th anniversary event for Pearl Harbor and the surviving veterans because of the storm.
