Spectrum Announces Partnership with ALU LIKE

ALU LIKE received $50,000 and laptops through Spectrum Community Center Assist philanthropic initiative.

Spectrum announced ALU LIKE received $50,000 through Spectrum Community Center Assist, the company’s, five-year, $30 million philanthropic initiative to revitalize local community centers and invest in job training programs in rural and urban underserved communities where Spectrum operates.

Spectrum kicked off the partnership with a revitalization event at the center located in Nanakuli, where employees and community volunteers set up a new technology center and made other improvements to the community center.

“Congratulations to ALU LIKE on your partnership with Spectrum,” said state Sen. Maile Shimabukuro. “With support from companies like Spectrum, ALU LIKE can continue improving community connections and quality of life in Hawaii, especially in the Native Hawaiian community.”

ALU LIKE received $50,000 to develop a job skills training program and facility improvements as Spectrum employee volunteers spent the day doing interior and exterior projects. Additionally, Spectrum will offer ALU LIKE its 1 Gig internet service, at no charge, for the life of the program.

ALU LIKE and Charter dedicated a new Spectrum Training and Technology Center at the community center. As part of that dedication, Spectrum also donated 50 new laptops to support the organization’s workforce development programs.
