Spectrum Awards $10,000 to American Red Cross Hawaii
Rep. Ryan Yamane joins event at the American Red Cross Hawaii in Honolulu

Spectrum announced a donation of $10,000 to the American Red Cross Hawaii through the company’s national community philanthropic program, Spectrum Employee Community Grants.
American Red Cross of Hawaii’s Disaster Program has served an estimated 10,000 individuals, encompassing normal operations and expanded COVID-19 response. To respond to changing conditions, the organization developed the capacity to transition between complete virtual service delivery and a hybrid model combining virtual and limited in-person presence.
The Spectrum Employee Community Grant award was presented to American Red Cross Hawaii at their local headquarters in Honolulu on Oct. 28. Rep. Ryan Yamane participated in the celebration with Spectrum executives.

“On behalf of American Red Cross Hawaii, I’d like to express our gratitude for the $10,000 grant from Spectrum,” said Diane Peters-Nguyen, American Red Cross Hawaii Regional Chief Executive Officer Pacific Islands Region. “The donation will allow the Red Cross to remain vigilant in educating the community about disaster preparedness and being ready to respond to the next crisis.”
This is the second Spectrum Employee Community Grant awarded to American Red Cross Hawaii, bringing the total of the two grants to $20,000.

“Congratulations to the American Red Cross Hawaii for receiving a Spectrum Employee Community Grant,” said Rep. Ryan I. Yamane, District 37. “The Red Cross is always prepared to provide the urgent needs of the community whether it’s responding to a disaster, assisting families during emergencies and more. Thank you Spectrum for your generosity and helping the Red Cross provide its humanitarian efforts.”
The funding will help the American Red Cross Hawaii maintain services, recruit and train volunteer disaster responders, and share disaster preparedness information through community education outreach.
Spectrum Senior Vice President, Hawaii Field Operations, Gregg Fujimoto, nominated American Red Cross Hawaii for the grant.
“I’ve volunteered and served on the advisory board with the American Red Cross for many years and understand the importance of their mission to be a consistent lifeline for people when they need it the most,” said Fujimoto. “I’m thrilled Spectrum is supporting such an important organization that serves all of Hawaii.”
Spectrum Employee Community Grants has provided funding to more than 325 local nonprofits in 31 states throughout the company’s service area since its inception in July 2019.
“Through Spectrum Employee Community Grants, we’re proud to provide support to vital community organizations with which our local employees are already volunteering their time and talent,” said Shannon Atkinson, Spectrum Regional Vice President. “Together, we’re building stronger communities where our customers and employees live and work across America.”
Recipients deliver critical social services, helping underserved residents meet basic needs, including food, shelter, clothing, job training and neighborhood safety. Each awardee is nominated by one of the company’s 93,000 U.S. employees who has volunteered with the organization for at least one year.
