Here are the top stories in Boise today:
- A Boise deputy chief of police is facing a lawsuit in California stemming from a time he was police chief in Antioch, California. KTVB-TV's Alexandra Duggan reports Boise Police Deputy Chief Tammany Brooks is facing a lawsuit for his alleged role in a string of racist and offensive text messages when he was the police chief from May 2017 through October of 2021. Six people filed the lawsuit stating Brooks and other members of the police department regularly referred to people as "monkeys," "gorillas," "f--gots," "water buffalos," and other derogatory terms. (KTVB.com)
- As Boise Patch reported yesterday, additional water is being released from Lucky Peak into the Boise River. Today, Boise Patch reports the Boise River has flooded the Greenbelt on the West Parkcenter Bridge and this area now is closed, the second closure on our path. As with the first closure, a detour is available on this most recent closure. (Boise River)
- A traffic stop near Star resulted in a find of fentanyl and a drug arrest. CBS2 news staff write the Ada County Sheriff's Office stopped Tyler Marcum for erratic driving. After Marcum provided permission to search his vehicle, deputies discovered a small amount of suspected fentanyl and several pieces of drug paraphernalia inside. (Idaho News)
- Next week is the time to catch a movie for only $3. KIDO-AM's Michelle Heart writes Regal Theaters in Boise are offering four movies available for only $3 each. Catch the four movies and show times in the article. (KIDO Talk Radio)
- Although earlier news stated Boise drivers would soon see the Kum & Go in Boise, that is not now the case. BoiseDev editor Don Day reports the popular chain has been sold to Salt Lake City-based FJM Management — the parent company of Maverick. FJM also owns a stake in Pilot/Flying J truck stops and with the purchase, Maverik and Kum & Go will own more than 800 locations across a 20-state region. (boisedev.com)
