1. The Capitol City Market is coming home. After a year selling fresh fruit and vegetables in Garden City, the market is returning back to downtown Boise, but a few blocks from where patrons normally shopped. 2. If you could, would you vote yourself a pay raise? Tapping BoiseDev again, Margaret Carmel writes that is exactly what Ada County Commissioners did — voted themselves a pay raise. (BoiseDev)

3. The Boise Zoo has a new family member. Ryan Morrison of idahonews provides the details of a baby Magellanic penguin born to Jimmy and Rose. The unnamed offspring just recently had it's first set of baby pictures released. (idahonews)

4. Big City Coffee is seeking more than $10 million in damages after being removed from the BSU campus. Kevin Richert of idahoednews reports the state has filed no response to a tort claim filed by the coffee business, clearing the way for a lawsuit in the near future. (idahoednews)

5. Idaho Power is asking for help as the mercury continues to rise. Tristan Lewis of KTVB spoke with Idaho Power officials on what the company is requesting of customers during the next week. (KTVB)


Boise Fact of the Day: The three Ada County commissioners, who are full time, make $117,550, or $56.51 hourly. The average county employee's salary is $27.71 an hour, or $57,642 a year as of January.


Boise Community Calendar:

- The Hazardous Waste collection facility at the Ada County Landfill is open from 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. each Friday and Saturday throughout the year.

- The pollinator habitat at the Boise Urban Garden School is a crucial component of our urban garden environment, providing food and shelter to a number of pollinators, from native solitary bees to domesticated honeybees.

We invite you to tour our garden from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 26 as part of our BUGS Community Days.

- Saturday is Giraffe Day at Zoo Boise. Join Zoo Boise and celebrate the world’s tallest animal, the giraffe! Giraffe Day, presented by Perkins Coie, will be packed full of giraffe themed activities and fun! Activities include: giraffe zookeeper chats throughout the day, discovery stations with zoo education staff, giraffe themed photo-ops, and more giraffe themed fun!

- The Tween Book Club meets at the Garden City Library starting at 2 p.m. on Saturday. Every month we will meet to talk about the month’s book, do activities, and have snacks. Call (208) 472-2944 to place a book club copy on hold.
