Boise Man Shot By Police Now Facing Numerous Charges
Mohamed Mkoma, a Boise refugee shot by police on June 27, has been formally charged in the incident.

BOISE, ID — An arrested man whose shooting by Boise Police sparked a protest and calls for justice for refugees has been formally charged with multiple crimes after a June 27 incident.
Mohamud Mkoma, 33, was served with a warrant Wednesday formally charging him with Lewd Conduct with a minor under sixteen (F)- 3 counts, Aggravated Assault (F), Aggravated Assault on Law Enforcement Personnel (F), Use of a Firearm or Deadly Weapon during the commission of a crime (F), Unlawful entry (m), Malicious injury to property (m), Eluding a peace officer (m), and Violation of a protection order (m).

The charges stem from June 27. Boise Police were called after a report of Mkoma taking a teenage boy from his home. After Mkoma was stopped near 36th Street and W Eyrie Street, Mkoma was shot in his vehicle after a struggle with police. The teenage boy was not injured.
Mkoma remains in the hospital recovering. A group of Somali refugees have recently taken to protesting his arrest and shooting by police.
