Census Confirms Ada County Is Growing
Ada County now has just under one-half million people and grew by 23% in just one year according to the most recent census.

BOISE, ID — Ada County is one of the fastest-growing regions in the entire country. New Census data from the 2020 census shows who we are, what the average household is like, how much we earn and other telling characteristics.
Ada County’s population is now 494,967. That’s almost a 23% increase in just one year. More than 91% of Ada County residents identify as white. The median income for a family of four is just over $66,000.

In the battle of the sexes, Ada County is pretty even. The Census reports 49.9% of the population is female.
Teens make up 23.2% of our population and those under five years of age are 5.6%. Seniors, those over 65 years of age, make up 14.9%.

In Ada County, 192.630 housing units exist with owner-occupied making up 69.3% of those units. The median value of a home in Ada County is $270,800. Remember, the census was competed before the housing explosion in the valley. For renters, the median rent was $995.
The average household in Ada County has 2.58 persons in the home. 83.7% of residents are living in the same home for over one year.
Ada County is computer savvy as 93.2% of us have a computer in the home. 84.4% of us have broadband internet attached to the computer.
For those ages 25 and older, 95.2% possess a high school diploma. The number plummets when discussing a bachelors degree or higher to 38.5%.
The commute time from home to work remains low as the average is listed at 20.7 minutes.
