Boise Airport urges travelers to plan ahead as holiday rush begins (ktvb.com) — Holiday travelers using Boise Airport are being urged to arrive at least two hours early and double-check their IDs, as security lines are expected to be especially busy. TSA officials in Boise highlighted common packing mistakes, upcoming REAL ID changes, and a new paid ID verification option starting February 1. 2. Meet the man who will feed Interfaith's residents: ‘I'd been waiting for them to ask.' (boisestatepublicradio.org) — Interfaith Sanctuary’s move from downtown Boise to a larger State Street site will come with a big upgrade in daily meal service, led by new Food Service Director Frank Kalange. The longtime local chef, known for work with Boise charities and Mercy Kitchen, is preparing to feed more men, women, and children experiencing homelessness once the new shelter opens.
   

3. Damage to a Boise bridge cost thousands. Police don't know who did it (boisedev.com) — Boise officials say they still haven’t identified who damaged railings on the West Parkcenter Bridge, causing over $11,000 in repairs and a partial closure. The Ada County Highway District has fixed the bridge but still needs to retrieve a fallen railing from the Boise River, likely with help from Boise Fire. Police say the case is inactive unless new leads emerge.
   

4. Boise council narrowly approves move to put leftover public dollars to affordable housing fund (boisedev.com) — Boise City Council has narrowly approved using a $6.7 million budget surplus to boost the city’s affordable housing efforts, despite concerns from some members about process and competing needs. Most of the money will support the city’s affordable housing land trust and home repair programs to preserve and create hundreds of lower-cost homes. Supporters say it keeps housing a top priority, while critics wanted broader debate on other pressing projects.
   

5. Daily bus service from Boise to Portland now in operation (koin.com) — Daily bus service between Boise and Portland is running again, restoring a crucial travel option for residents after nearly a year without intercity buses on the I-84 corridor. Northwestern Stage Lines now connects Boise, Nampa, Ontario, and multiple Oregon towns, supported partly by a federal grant that funds the segment between The Dalles and Boise Airport for one year.
