Coroner Releases Name Of Female Shot By Nampa PD

The deceased has been identified as 51-year old Dawn M. Simpson by the Ada County Coroner.

BOISE, ID — The Ada County Coroner officially identified Dawn Simpson, 51-years of age, as the person involved and killed in an incident with Nampa Police on Friday, July 16.

Police were called to a residence on Friday, finding Simpson present. She had multiple warrants for her arrest and refused to exit a car she was sitting in at the end of a driveway.

Police say an officer attempted to open the door of the car when Simpson accelerated and rammed into a police car. A chase took place, ending in the 500 block of Mulberry Loop.

Reports state Simpson had a weapon and started firing at officers. Nampa police returned fire, striking Simpson. She was transported to a local hospital where she died.

The incident remains under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
