Here are the top stories today in Boise:
- The driver of an electric motorcycle died the day following a crash in downtown Boise on April 11. - Boise Patch informed followers yesterday, Summer Shiflet, Lori Vallow Daybell's sister would probably take the stand on Tuesday, and she did. EastIdahoNews reporter Nate Eaton reports most of Tuesday morning of the trial was spent on cell phone tracking reports related to persons in the case including Vallow Daybell. Late in the morning, Shiflet took the stand for the prosecution as a representative for Tylee Ryan, the deceased child of Vallow Daybell. Shiflet testifies Vallow Daybell stated in February 2020 the children were "safe." Played as part of her testimony is a video call between Shiflet and Vallow Daybell with numerous people in the court room crying. The afternoon testimony included a police officer present when the children's remains were dug up in Daybell's property and an FBI agent specially trained in human remains. (eastidahonews)
- If you are not aware, Bed Bath & Beyond has filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy. KIDO-AM's Michelle Heart writes those holding gift cards need to hurry for the cards to be valid. The final day to use a gift card is May 8 and the final day for the Welcome Rewards program is May 15. Bed Bath & Beyond will stop accepting coupons today, April 26. (KIDO Talk Radio)
- Much of the talk at the recent discussion at the Boise Metro Chamber’s 2023 Annual Leadership Conference in Sun Valley recently centered around trains. BoiseDev senior reporter Margaret Carmel reports elected officials and company executives gathered to discuss the return of Amtrak service to the Treasure Valley. Even with the tone of the talks optimistic, trains will not be making a stop in Boise on their way to Salt Lake for 10 to 15 years. (boisedev.com)
- Boise Patch recently reported of revenues rising in Garden City due to traffic fines. Apparently, Boise drivers are better than Garden City drivers as CBS2 staff report the Boise Police Department saw a drop of over $40,000 in revenue collected from traffic fines. (Idaho News)
