The city council wants trains to again pick up passengers in Boise and take a look at what pilots see as they fly into Boise to drop you off.

1. Boise residents love to hike the hills around the city, but need to remember to keep dogs on a leash. A small dog was recently attacked and killed by coyotes. Trevor Fay of KBCI has the story and the request by some for warning signs to be installed. (KBCI)

5. Many of us fly in and out of the Boise Airport a few times a year. The FAA recently completed a YouTube video explaining the airport and some of the problems encountered by pilots of both big and small aircraft. Even if not piloting your own plane, the video is a great explanation of just what it takes to land in Boise. (YouTube)

Boise Airport enplaned 2,059,935 passengers in 2019, an increase of 6% vs. 2018 when 1,938,416 passengers were enplaned (making it the 69th busiest airport in the country).

- The City of Boise Development Impact Fee Advisory Committee will meet Wednesday as a virtual event. The agenda can be found here.
- The Boise City Council will meet at 6 p.m. on Wednesday with attendance encouraged to be done virtually. The agenda can be found here.
- Chess players can grab some competition starting at 2 p.m. at the Garden City Library.
- Also at the Garden City Library, a basic water bath canning class starts at 5:30 p.m. Learn how to make homemade salsa and more.
- Join us for JUMP’s 4th Annual Illumibrate Light & Color Festival, a free event featuring enormous art exhibits, specialty food and drinks and family-friendly entertainment. This years’ theme, Light Up Your Wild Side, promises to ignite the wild side that lives in us all.
- Explore the history of Idaho's waterways and rivers on Wednesday at the Idaho State Museum starting at 6 p.m. Panelists Sheri Hughes, Redside Foundation Advisor and former Board President; Caitlin Straubinger, Idaho Rivers United Membership & Outreach Coordinator; Megan Nelson, Sawtooth Interpretive & Historical Association Museum Docent; and Aspen Arnold, Sawtooth Interpretive & Historical Association Historical Specialist, will talk about Idaho’s rivers and recreation during this next History Happy Hour. They will share not only the history of Idaho’s rivers and waterways, but how you can enjoy them this summer and beyond. Discover what happens when rivers are protected, how river guides and outfitters are some of your best assets (and also need to be taken care of!), and how you can be involved in preserving the natural and cultural history of Idaho’s waterways.

About me: My grandmother raised her family on Walnut Street, just off Warm Springs Avenue. She had an old, two bedroom home for many years along with a little acreage to grow a garden and a huge apple tree. Returning to that site now, hard to imagine her home every stood there.
