I-84 Rock Thrower Arrested After Vehicle Chase

Idaho State Police are asking for witnesses to the incident Saturday evening west of Caldwell.

CALDWELL, ID — The Idaho State Police are asking for witnesses to an incident Saturday evening on Interstate 84 west of Caldwell.

Police state Cesar Pedraza, 21, of Nyssa Oregon, was contacted by Idaho State Police and Canyon County Sheriff's Deputies after reports of a man throwing rocks at cars on Interstate 84 west of Caldwell.

Pedraza fled the scene in his pick-up when police made an attempt to speak with him. He avoided spike strips set by ISP, Canyon and Payette County Deputies. During the chase, Pedraza crossed through the center median of the interstate several times and swerved his pick-up towards a trooper's car.

A trooper was successful using a pursuit intervention technique which brought the suspect vehicle to a stop. Pedraza was taken into custody without further incident and booked into the Payette County Jail.

Pedraza was charged with DUI, Felony Eluding an Officer and Felony Aggravated Assault.

Troopers are asking anyone who witnessed the man throwing rocks at cars on Interstate 84 near milepost 22, that's near the Galloway Road and the Purple Sage Road overpasses, Saturday at approximately 4:45 to 4:55 p.m., to please call ISP dispatch at 208-846-7550.
