Meet A Future Leader In Boise: Sherlyn Mesillas Becerra
Patch and T-Mobile have partnered to highlight young people achieving great things in our community.

The future of Boise is looking bright, thanks to the incredible young people working to strengthen our community. In partnership with T-Mobile, Patch is proud to spotlight future leaders like Sherlyn Mesillas Becerra, who are making a positive impact in and around Boise.
Sherlyn, a 2024 graduate Capital High School in Boise, is a standout leader making significant contributions to her community and the wider world. She founded the Boise chapter of the Future Hispanic Leaders of America (FHLA) during her sophomore year, serving as president and raising $500 to support FHLA activities.
Sherlyn has also received recognition for her involvement with the Sierra Club Idaho Chapter’s Climate Justice League, earning both the Youth Climate Justice Leadership Award and the Emerging Changemaker Award in 2024. As a passionate advocate for climate justice, she has co-facilitated meetings, spoken at rallies and contributed her talents in art and writing, all while maintaining her humble and kind demeanor.

Sherlyn’s academic aspirations reflect her deep commitment to helping others, as she plans to pursue psychology or health sciences in college, with hopes of attending graduate school afterward. As a first-generation college student, she has expressed a strong desire to give back to the next generation by creating her own scholarship fund in the future.
