Happy Wednesday, neighbors! Here's everything you need to know going on in town today.

The Boise Daily is here to make your middle of the week a little easier. Ada County is attempting to make your life easier, opening a new license office. If you want to see a really big fish caught right here locally, read on. Taxpayers are being asked to foot the bill for the state's lieutenant governor's private attorneys, and grab a cup of hot chocolate as new Hallmark Christmas movies are on the way. Finally, running for your local school board is becoming expensive and partisan.

  1. For most people, having a wisdom tooth pulled and a trip to the driver's license bureau rank pretty close. Ada County is attempting to alleviate some of the wait time by opening a second location. Boise Patch provides the details on the location of the new office and hours of operation. (Boise Patch)
  2. A Meridian man has a new record to boast to all his friends. Cris Endicott recently landed a 46-pound carp from the Snake River. The fish is a new Idaho record. CBS2 news staff provide a picture with the story of this monster over four feet long. (idahonews)
  3. Idaho taxpayers are being asked to pay Lt. Gov. Janice McGeachin's legal fees in her losing battle over public records requests. In addition to court costs and legal fees for the Idaho Press Club, McGeachin is also asking for taxpayer money to pay her own private legal fees. KTVB-TV's Joe Parris explains the ongoing request for public money. (KTVB)
  4. We would venture to guess there are Boise residents, male and female, who secretly watch and wait for Hallmark holiday movies. Starting in just a few days, 41 new Christmas movies will begin airing on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Taste of Home writer Amrita Thakkar has a preview of some of the upcoming love stories. (tasteofhome)
  5. In normal times, the November elections ballot for school board vacancies is not all that heated. However, in recent times, school boards have become hot boxes of tension over COVID-19 protocols and critical race theory. IdahoEdNews and Kevin Richert take a look at these "non-partisan" races now costing more money than ever before. (idahoednews)

Boise Fact of the Day

We carried the story today of a new Idaho record carp caught in the Snake River. However, after some research, Idaho may have a way to go. The world carp record stands at 112 lbs., 14 oz., a Euro-Aqua fish caught by Dutchman Michel Schoenmakers in 2018.
