One Dead After Boise Police Shooting In Northend
An early morning call regarding a trespass call resulted in the death of man reportedly after a gun was pointed at Boise Police.

BOISE, ID — One man is dead after a police shooting early Saturday morning in the backyard of an address on N. 21st Street near W. Pleasanton Ave and W. State Street.
According to information from the Boise Police Department, officers were called to conduct a property check at 1:20 a.m. on Saturday. The calling party reported someone trespassing and squatting for a couple of nights in an enclosed area on a property.

Two officers, unidentified at this time, arrived in one vehicle. Boise Police state the officers identified themselves as they approached the subject in a small, enclosed area, up against a building. Reports state as the officers approached the man, they asked him to show his hands. While laying on the ground, the suspect produced a handgun, pointing it at officers.
The release states officers commanded the man to drop the gun. Citing "an immediate threat to their life" officers responded with gunfire. At this time, it has not been released the number of shots fired or if the suspect fired a weapon.

The man was declared dead at a local hospital. One officer was also treated for a superficial wound.
The Ada County Critical Incident Task Force (CITF) led by the Ada County Sheriff’s Office has been activated to investigate the shooting. Officers on body video will be reviewed as part of the investigation. The Boise Police Department will also conduct an internal investigation. There will also be a separate investigation conducted by the City of Boise Office of Police Accountability.
