Hey, Boise! Let's get you all caught up to start this Friday off on an informed note. These are the most important things happening today in town.
The Boise Daily starts off your weekend with news of an assault of a staff member at the prison south of Boise. Take a walk this weekend and see some Boise visitors at the MK Nature Center. The Garden City mayor wants the job again, and Boise has a new electric really big truck. Finally, Canyon County has paid out a large settlement to settle a discrimination lawsuit.

Here are the top stories in Boise today:
- After a supervisor, on his personal Facebook page, reported a staff member was assaulted at the state prison south of Boise, the Idaho Department of Correction confirmed the incident as reported by Hayat Norimine in the Twins Falls Times-News. The female staffer has undergone two surgeries to repair the damage sustained in the assault. (Twin Falls Times-News)
- A group of wayward sockeye salmon will spend some time in the waters of the MK Nature Center. Boise residents making the tour of the facility will be able to see the sockeye enjoying their new home. (Boise Patch)
- Reporter Margaret Carmel, writing for BoiseDev, interviewed Garden City Mayor John Evans in his hope to remain in the position for a fifth term. Evans has been at the helm of Garden City since 2005. (boisedev.com)
- Boise has a new 21-ton, all electric, recycling truck making pickups around the city. KTVB-TV's Shirah Matsuzawa has a video of the new truck in action. (KTVB.com)
- Canyon County has agreed to pay five former nurses $350,000 to settle a sexual discrimination suit filed against the jail. The nurses said a male nurse was paid more. The county admitted nothing in the settlement in the report filed by the Associated Press. (KIVI-TV)
