- Thursday was day 17 of the Lori Vallow Daybell trial in Boise. EastIdahoNews reporter Nate Eaton was again in the courtroom and providing updates on a day filled with experts in forensics. A FBI tool expert testifies on what he believes was used to dismember Tylee Ryan's body. He states marks found on the body likely came from a knife, hatchet, cleaver, something with serrated teeth marks, a machete or other tools. The early afternoon saw testimony from Idaho State Police forensic personnel. A shovel placed into evidence was tested and shows the probability of matter found on the shovel to belong to Tylee Ryan is 604 octillion (27 zeroes). Court was halted early on Thursday per Judge Boyce. (eastidahonews)
- The Boise Police Department has a new chief who has actually been on the job for a while. KTVB-TV staff report Ron Winegar, the interim chief since the end of September, will serve as the permanent Boise Police Chief. Winegar previously served as deputy chief until 2021 when he retired. - Lisa Sánchez will now wait for a judge to decide if she returns to her seat on the Boise City Council. BoiseDev editor Don Day reports a local judge announced he will decide in the coming days if an emergency request to put Sánchez back on the Boise City Council will be granted. After moving outside her district, Sánchez was removed from her seat. (boisedev)
- With all our rainfall and now the sun coming out, the wildflowers are coming out in the Boise foothills. FromBoise's Marissa introduces a few of the species found including the Aase’s Onion, a rare and endangered plant that only grows in the Boise foothills and a few other places in Southwest Idaho. Our own wild onion is found no where else in the world. (fromboise)
- Our warming weather also translates to car shows. KIVI-TV's Cooper McCauley writes this Saturday will see a large car show, both inside and outside the Boise Mall. The event is free to attend and a donation of a can of food could win you a raffle prize. (Idaho News 6 Boise Twin Falls)
