Happy Saturday, people of Boise! Here's everything going on around Boise today.

The weekend is heating up again and so is the news. Boise's heat wave is taking a toll on all of us, but now street signs are suffering. Neighborhoods will see some ideas acted upon as the city announced funding for 12 projects. A group of Idaho girls are shooting under par against international teams, and new doughnuts are coming to Bronco land. Finally, aggressive drivers will be targeted for the next few weeks.

  • Lace up your running shoes and put tread to trail as the YMCA run through the trees and hills of Bogus Basin. (6 a.m.)
  • Join Zoo Boise on Saturday, July 24 at 9 a.m. for a fun run like no other! Run Wild at Zoo Boise presented by St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital is a fun run through the zoo, designed for kids ages 1-10 years, with routes of approximately 1/3 mile, 1/2 mile, and 1 mile. Run Wild is a fun, non-competitive run/walk through Zoo Boise prior to opening. Parents are welcome to accompany younger participants. Each registration includes admission to Zoo Boise the day of Run Wild for one runner and one chaperone, participation in the run, race packet, and post-run celebration including snacks and special activities. Additional family and friends may pre-purchase admission tickets at https://zooboise.org/online-ticketing/. Zoo admission is valid all day. We encourage participants to dress up as their favorite animal or superhero in support of Zoo Boise. Zoo Boise will be opening at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 24 because of Run Wild! All participants will receive a special Run Wild cape! (7 a.m.)
  • Whether you are new to Boise or a lifelong resident, join the Golden Eagle Audubon Society for a behind-the-scenes tour series to explore where we live — the Boise River watershed. Learn about our local SW Idaho birds and see different areas of the Boise River watershed. Our July class will focus on songbirds. Class is $15 per person. Light refreshments provided. (9 a.m.)
  • Idaho's largest collection of LEGO works is this weekend at ABU Games in Boise. Approximately 50 builders exhibiting hundreds of creations, including buildings, ships, monsters, robots, spaceships, starships, and more. Highlights will include a 12-foot high Saturn V rocket made from 40,000 bricks and an intricate miniature LEGO city. Come experience a Star Wars Fly-in, where members of the Idaho LUG will be bringing in examples of all the Ultimate Collector Series models that LEGO has produced over the years and many hard-to-find promotional and anniversary sets.
