The week starts with the stories you need in the Boise Daily. Trail users now have voice on the future of outdoor recreation while Treefort is just around the corner. Vaccine mandates will continue to be in the news and we provide an update on the new construction on Ustick Road. Finally, students of the Idaho Fine Arts Academy will soon have new digs.

- One of the greatest joys living in Boise is the range of outdoor activities available to all. The City of Boise is now asking users of the Boise trail systems their opinion on what the future should be in regards to the system. We have the story and a link to the survey. (Boise Patch)

- Join SIBA for a birding trip to the Subalpine Forests of Scott Mountain! SIBA (Southwestern Idaho Birders Association) is a birding group based out of Canyon County. All are welcome on their field trips. Please note this is not a Golden Eagle Audubon Society event. REGISTER HERE. Registration is required. Meet behind the Valley View Chevron in Horseshoe Bend at 7:00am to carpool. (meeting location) On the road from Garden Valley to Loman, forest road 555, the triple nickel, leaves the valley floor and climbs through several forest types before reaching 8000 ft and the subalpine zone with subalpine fir white-bark pine and the cushion plants of this hostile and fragile habitat. On Scott Mt, we might find Clarks Nutcracker, Olive-sided Flycatcher, Williamson’s Sapsucker, a Spruce Grouse, or early migrant raptor working its way down the ridges. Also, our trip leader may talk about the rare plants and his family’s history on the “Mountain.” Plan for a full day. Bring water, snacks, lunch, and sturdy clothes. Little hiking will be involved.
