Here are the top three stories today in Idaho Falls:
- The City of Idaho Falls has been recognized as America's Best Performing Small City for the second time, according to the 2023 Milken Institute Best-Performing Cities Index. The city's strong job and wage growth, as well as its focus on technology, innovation, and cyber-security, contributed to its top ranking. Idaho Falls' economic success is attributed to its talented workforce, supportive business sectors, access to essential services and infrastructure, and its leading role in clean energy research through the Idaho National Laboratory. - The Bonneville County Sheriff's Office has increased patrols for the next two weeks to target seat belt violations and distracted driving as part of a statewide safety initiative. This effort precedes the upcoming "100 deadliest days" between Memorial Day and Labor Day when accidents tend to increase. The sheriff's office aims to remind drivers to prioritize safe driving practices, especially with the increased number of travelers on the road during springtime. (Idaho State Journal)
- The Idaho Falls Chukars are preparing for the 2023 Pioneer League season and recently held their first-ever Fan Fest, giving fans the opportunity to interact with players. The team has a new manager, former MLB player Dave Clark, and the Pioneer League has implemented the pitch clock rule, aligning it with Major League Baseball. The Chukars will start their exhibition schedule with games in Boise and Idaho Falls before the season opener next Tuesday, followed by the home opener next Friday. (Local News 8)
