20 IL Facilities Ranked Among America’s Best Maternity Hospitals
Five hospitals were ranked by Newsweek as being five-star facilities for delivery services while another 15 received a four-star ranking.
ILLINOIS — Twenty facilities in Illinois are among America’s best maternity hospitals, according to a recent ranking from Newsweek.
Where their baby will be born is one of the most important decisions parents can make, with the quality of care from pregnancy through birth through postpartum and the selection of a doctor and birthing plan at the top of their concerns, Newsweek said with the release of the ranking.
The list of 384 hospitals and maternity care centers is divided into two categories, with 159 institutions earning five-ribbon status and 225 with four-ribbon status.

Five-ribbon institutions in Illinois are:
- Advocate Christ Medical Center, Oak Lawn
- Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, Park Ridge
- Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital, Winfield
- Northwestern Medical Center, Chicago
- Rush University Medical Center, Chicago

Newsweek partnered with the global research and consumer data company Statistica to rank the hospitals. The ranking is based on a nationwide online survey of hospital managers and health care professionals, including neonatal specialists and OB/GYNs asking for their recommendations for maternity care; key performance data on maternity care, including cesarean birth rates; and patient satisfaction data.
